Our Fall Lineup

Join us for three wonderful shows in Texas in October!
Art in the Square returns to Georgetown, Texas, October 6 & 7. The Shops at La Cantera Art Festival is back for its third year at the luxurious Shops at La Cantera in San Antonio, October 19-21. And we’re excited to announce our newest show, Art Austin @ the Domain. This twice yearly show debuts with the spring show March 23-25. The fall show will be October 26-28. The deadline to apply for the October shows on Zapplication.org is June 15, 2012. The application deadline for the Spring Art @ the Domain is February 10, so if you’re thinking of applying for this show, please don’t delay!

Art in the Square 2011
Although it was a noticeably smaller show than last year, we got a lot of positive feedback from the 2011 Georgetown at Art in the Square. Saturday morning was quite busy and and we had steady crowds both days, although there was the usual lull during the football games. We got several compliments from festival-goers about the high quality of the art, and local patrons are very enthusiastic about this show.

Some wonderful performances added to the festival atmosphere, including dance routines by the Georgetown High School Georgettes and a Baroque concert by the Georgetown High School orchestra. Heartstrings, Matt Rogers and Mark White from Austin, who play their own compositions and arrangements of popular and classical tunes on an unusual instrument called the Chapman stick, enchanted the crowds all weekend. We would like to extend our thanks to the Georgetown Arts Alliance, who treated everyone to a lovely reception in the lovely Williamson County courthouse.

Georgetown is a big football town and things got quiet during the Dallas Cowboys game on Sunday afternoon. However, most artists did well and many we talked to reported increased sales over last year. The majority of our respondents said they felt that the show is gaining in reputation among the local art-buying public.

In 2012, Art in the Square will be the first weekend in October, the 6th and 7th, to kick off Art Month.

The Shops at La Cantera Art Festival 2011
Everyone keeps telling us that San Antonio needs a fine art show and we believe that the Shops at La Cantera has the potential to be just the right show for this area. The second Shops at La Cantera Art Festival took place October 21-23 2011. Friday was slow during the day, but when people started getting off work it got crowded and there were a few high-dollar sales Friday night. We had better luck with the weather than in 2010–the beautiful weather brought shoppers out in droves and there were steady crowds the rest of the weekend until closing.

After last year’s show, several people asked us about Sheryl and Jimmy McDonald, so we were thrilled when they agreed to be our featured artists this year. We were also delighted to have Houston artist Eric Ober in our show. His interactive outdoor sculptures were a crowd favorite.

The local patrons are very enthusiastic about this show and we got several compliments from attendees. The overwhelming majority of participants that responded to our survey said they feel The Shops at La Cantera Art Festival has the potential to become a successful show. We have tentatively changed the show hours for 2012 to start at 5 pm on Friday and are working with the property management to finalize this change. This year’s show is October 19-21.

Blue Lotus Art Show Tour comes to Austin

We’re excited to announce that we’re adding two news shows to The Blue Lotus Art Show Tour. On March 23-25 and October 26-28, please join us for Art @ The Domain. The Domain is Austin’s elegant lifestyle venue on the north side of town, featuring upscale shopping, dining and living in an elegant setting that’s perfect for three days of fine art.

Austin has needed a quality outdoor art festival for a long time and many artists have asked us to consider doing a show there. We’re getting a lot of positive feedback from local artists about the show and the venue, which has room for approximately 110 artists. It’s a very lively and affluent area, in the fastest-growing part of Austin. It has all the elements for a successful show.

It’s taken us a while to finalize the arrangements with the property, and the application deadline for the spring show is February 3. We realize that’s short notice! Please help us get the word out!
